Men’s Book Group: 1981

September 8 @ 7:00 pm – 8:30 pm PDT
Rich with promise and possibility, the post-Stonewall era saw queer Americans standing up for themselves and each other like never before. With the rise of gay newspapers, bars, clubs, and businesses in cities all over the US, it was a time of hedonism, activism, pride, and community. A scene ripe for exploration and documentation, and journalist JD Doyle hit the road to do just that, traveling through 27 states to create a playful, intimate, profusely illustrated, one-of-a-kind record of gay life, love, lust, and liberation in the heady days before the devastating crisis that would change everything.

We are excited to have the author, JD Doyle, joining our book group conversation. JD’s 1981 carefully-recorded road trip provides a unique perspective of gay history and liberation. The first forty five minutes we will follow our usual format and the second half of our call we will have Q&A with JD.
It’s free to participate. If interested in learning more about the group and to see if it’s a good fit, contact Paul.
